Joint Workplaces

Complex Brain and Auditory Studies Lab

The aim of this joint laboratory of BMC SAS, the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University in Bratislava, and Bratislava University Hospital is to improve understanding of changes in brain function and structure in hearing and speech disorders, thereby contributing to more effective personalized treatment of patients and better diagnostics. It focuses on research into the nervous system and its ability to adapt and adjust in cases of hearing and speech disorders. In particular, it focuses on the extent of neural plasticity, i.e. the ability of neural networks to adapt to external and internal stimuli, and its controlled influence through changes in neural activity. The laboratory investigates the electrophysiological, structural, histological, genetic, and behavioral aspects of perception, memory, learning, and other cognitive processes.
