This laboratory continues the legacy of the former WHO Collaborating Centre for Rickettsial Reference and Research in Bratislava. It provides diagnostic and surveillance services for tick-borne bacteria, including Rickettsia, Borrelia, Anaplasma, Ehrlichia, Babesia, Bartonella, and Coxiella.
The laboratory
- Detects and characterizes pathogens in human, animal, and tick samples.
- Maps natural foci of these microorganisms in Slovakia
- Investigates their epidemiological and ecological links to human diseases, vectors, and animal reservoirs.

- Analysis of ticks for presence of tick-borne pathogens (Testing requests and sample submission: please complete the order form “tick analysis” and send to analyzakliesta@gmail.com.
Please deliver the samples according to the instructions provided in the “Order Form” or deliver in person along with the form. Analyses are processed on a first-come basis unless otherwise arranged.
