First and foremost, it serves to support the research tasks of individual scientific departments of the BMC SAS. It also accepts biological material from other domestic scientific institutions, as well as from universities and foreign institutions. It also accepts cytological and biopsy material from veterinary services of contracted veterinary clinics. At the same time, it participates in the consultation reading of histological preparations from veterinary biopsy practice of sister veterinary histopathological laboratories. In addition, it offers professional internships for specialists, researchers, and university students with the possibility of writing their final theses. The staff also provides lectures for interested parties from secondary schools and universities.
Tasks:
- processing biological material into cytological and histological specimens using advanced techniques,
- interpreting results at the diagnostic level, possibly using software connected to a microscope and PC to quantify results,
- autopsy diagnostics: formalin-fixed tissue samples obtained during autopsies or surgical sampling from experimental animals, isolated cells that can be stained on slides after treatment,
- we perform a small number of autopsies on laboratory animals, including quantitative parameters of the results obtained in this way.
