Research Focus
Cell signaling is a very complex process used by cells to communicate with each other and ensure the coordination of all reactions in the body. Calcium ions are important signaling molecules that regulate important metabolic pathways not only in physiological but also in pathophysiological conditions. Calcium ions can enter cells from the external environment, but also from intracellular stores. The transport of calcium by different transport systems to specific locations at different times determines the specificity of calcium signaling. Therefore, one of the basic directions of the research group is to investigate the role of selected calcium transport systems in tumor cells, mainly in cells of renal cell carcinoma, ovarian carcinoma, and colorectal carcinoma.
An important part of the research is also the study of the role of adrenergic regulation in tumors and the possibility of using adrenergic receptor blockers in combination therapy for breast tumors and pancreatic tumors.
